When you hear child stirring, you change the child. This is a fun process with lots of bonding time and one sided conversations. And opening the diaper is a little like Christmas.
- You feel the diaper as you move them to the table and you sort of try to guess if there is anything in it
- Once you have the child undressed, you try to maybe peek in the side of the diaper to get a feel for what might be in store.
- Then you open the diaper... And you find either a present, or not. Its always wet, it is just the "other" contents that are a surprise.
- you actually feel disappointed when the diaper is empty. (whouda thunk you get excited about poop) Empty diaper means they are either not processing the food, or they are constipated. And a new parent has enough things to get freaked out about.
Wake Up Baby, Wake up!!!

About halfway through the feeding, there will inevitably be a release of gas at some point. Funny thing is, I always thought burping sent gas up. Turns out, it sends it both ways. The problem is, you get to the end of the feeding, and if all went well, you have a burped, tranquil baby. BUT... There was that lower gas. Now, was it Gas? Or was it something more insidious? Should I check and risk moving baby to an awake state when I want to sleep? Or let the baby sit in a "possibly" poopy diaper?

no wonder it's taking up to an hour to feed and change them. Speed diapering......no analysing, you will have lots and lots and lots to analyse. Wait til the smell comes in.......then you will become a master at speed diapering (and wish you had dad there), he was very useful for really bad diapers.
It was a gift
