Fun With Water

We went to a really neat place here in San Jose called the Children's discovery museum. They have all sorts of experiential learning stuff. Of course the one thing that totally caught the kids attention was the water part. They are fascinated with all things water, and this place had all things water.

Babies first trip to a water park

Well, we are a little behind here, and since i need to catch up before i can post current stuff... time to get started.

Back at the end of May, we took the babies to the local amusement park (Paramounts Great America) and it has a water park inside as well. The Babies LOVED it. we kind of knew they would as we cannot keep them away from water.

The funny part was every time we moved from one part of the park to another, they would start crying as if we were leaving... but they were good and really had a great time.

And the great white daddy did not even get too bad of a sunburn!

Mothers Day 2007

For Mothers day we went back to a local hotel we had gone to for Easter. they put on a nice spread and it is in a nice setting. As well, Mommy got a new Digital camera to take lots of nice pictures with.

So Happy Mothers Day Roxanne. For all you do for all of us every day we love you.

Babies first RIBS!

So, mommy has had a hankerin fer BBQ for a few days so we saddled up the clan and headed out to a local hole in the wall known fer their good eatin.

As we went through the meal we were doing the regular parent thing. We were tearing off small chunks of meat and slowly feeding it to them. This was not good enough for Christopher. Once the meat got close enough, he reached out and YANKED A RIB OFF THE RACK! He grabbed it and started gnawing like a dog who has not seen his bowl in a week. We could not believe it... he was loving it.

After a while he did what little kids do and jettisoned the rib over the edge and let it hit the ground. so that made it no longer baby friendly. That was no good for our little guy. THis is what happened next!

When the meal was winding down, we decided to let him knaw on a dead soldier. he loved it... and it kept him quiet! So we tried giving Anastasia one as well... BINGO!

As a result of this little experiment, we will definitely be going back. But more importantly, it lets us know that we can now go out for dinner as a family! So that is yet one more little smidgen of freedom gained!

Their Changing looks

Well, we still see them as those little 6 pound precious angels we took home from the hospital 19 months ago. However it is becoming quite apparent that they are no longer babies. There are also two things that are very clear...

When Daddy looks at Anastasia he knows one thing... "HE IS SCREWED!"

And when we look at our little boy, we can see that he is going to be one handsome little devil!

Alphabet Girl

Anastasia really likes letters. She like to point them out. Not so cute when i am trying to put her to bed and she is pointing out all the letters on my shirt and having me spell out CANUCKS (ok, maybe a little cute)

Here is what happens when we go for a walk to the mailbox...

Cute, but it gets painful when she wants to have us spell things and we want to go home. But enthusiasm is what counts.

Out Little Sleepy Guy

So yesterday, mama felt that the time was right and the binky UN-training has begun.

Alas it did not go as smoothly today as it did yesterday. Christopher decided to not sleep for nap time.

Here is what happens at dinner when a 19 month old decides not to sleep.

Moving to big kid seats

So no longer will they watch out the windows and see where we have been. Now that they are BIG kids, we got to move the seats to forward facing. This also makes life a little easier when it comes to seeing what they are doing back there.

Why in no time at all Daddy will be yelling "don't make me come back there!"

It is also a coincidence that this was the last picture taken with Binkys. As of the 22nd of May, the babies were Binky free.

More 18 month pictures

Sweet little babies...

18 months already?

Well, they are now 18 months old. Picture time is getting more interesting with new challenges. But seeing the picture just reminds me of the fact that it was only a year ago when we could not even get them to sit up.

Now...

Then...

Can anybody spot the problem.

The day this picture was taken, our darling little boy learned a valuable lesson about physics.

As with many people, we try to keep the toys corralled in one central location. Instead of buying the horrendously overpriced toy box, we just went with a large container from Target. Christopher found out though that the distance to the toys were a little farther than he thought.

So Roxanne is in the kitchen cleaning up or fixing some food when she hears the soft wailing of the Wynah bird... When she gets into the living room, she sees Christopher stuck in the toybox. As she is a good wife and knows how much i needed to see it for myself, she grabbed a camera and got a picture that Christopher will hate for years to come. Then she rescued him. Although she reminds me that he did not actually learn any lessons. Unfortunately we did not get a picture of him pulling a similar stunt in the tub...

Just more shots

Finally, some service around this place!

We found these cute little chairs that they sometimes sit in. If we want them to stay there, there is a magic combination. It involves the TV and something to drink

Helpin out daddy

How Sweet, he is helping Daddy check his email.

Yes those are The nice pans!

So mommy was getting dinner ready and Anastasia took a likin to the nice pans (and heavy) and mamma decided to see what would happen so she dragged the big things out and dragged them all over the place.

Easter Egg Babies

Well, for easter, we decided to try colouring eggs. It went about as well as one might expect.

First off Anastasia, well it seems our little girl has a little to learn about being gentle with eggs. She just grabbed that sucker and put her hand right through it! She was really quite fascinated with the texture. Thank god we hard boil first.

Next up... Christopher. He was not totally clear on the concept that we put the egg in the colouring and keep our hands lily white. As to be expected with a little Gillespie, he wanted to know what was in the cup. At least he did not try to drink it. Although he did a great job of spilling the Orange on mommy and the carpet.

Next everybody took a look at how purty the yellow egg was. Can everybody say... "oohhhhhhhh!"

Our Little Stacking Girl

It is amazing how suddenly with very little prompting, they will launch into a new task. Last week Roxanne played with Anastasia and showed her how to stack blocks. She has done this before and have varying success. All of a sudden it is like Anastasia is a Champion (ok Baby) Dominoes player.

But with some baby flair!

She has a future, wait until she figures out what to do with the lego!

Our little silly laughing boy.

So, about 6 months ago, we got the twins these musical toys. for 6 months they have shown not much interest. Until this past week. All of a sudden, Christopher Sits down, Picks it up... and the following happens.

We have no idea what the heck he is laughing at, but he sure finds it funny!

Happy Babies All around

More babies in the bath

Our Main issue is that her hair is too fine to do a decent mohawk. Hopefully over time it will become longer and we can have real bathtime fun!

Graduation day!

Well, Feb 15th was a big day for Christopher. It was the day that we went in for a head scan and the folks at the rehab centre said that Christopher could retire his helmet. It was expensive, it was a pain, but it was worth it.

Good Job Son!

Lookie Lookie, i figured out how to put video on this thing!

OK, this is a test. this is a video from August 2006 of christopher laughing.

How about that? Now that we know we can do this, it opens up other possiilities.

Stay tuned for more video of the kids!

17 month birthday

Well, as time has progressed, we have maybe not put as much effort into the monthly "portrait" but we still try.

This one is entitled "Get out of the way mommy, we can't see the TV"

Ah, it brings a tear to the eye.
